Practice Services

We offer a range of clinics and services here at Cavendish Health Centre, ranging from long term conditions and health care clinics, to vaccinations and doctor’s sick notes.

Clinics and Services

In addition to GP consultations the practice offers a wide range of special clinics and services. Please see below for our A to Z listing of clinics.

  • 24 hour blood pressure monitoring – by invitation (patient information leaflet can be found here.)

  • Antenatal care – usually shared between the practice nurse, GP and local NHS hospital services.

  • Asthma / COPD review appointments

  • Baby clinic – run by the health visitor with another member of the clinical team. We also offer immunisation, developmental checks and advice.

  • Blood tests – needs referral by a GP

  • Care planning – by invitation

  • Childhood immunisationsContraceptive and sexual health services – these are available through your doctor or practice nurse. The service provides regular smear tests and all aspects of family planning including oral contraceptive pills and emergency contraception, contraceptive implants, injections and intrauterine devices (i.e. coil or Mirena coil), sexual health checks and treatment.

  • Diabetic review appointments

  • Dressings and suture removal

  • ECG – needs referral by a GP (patient information leaflet can be found here.)

  • Minor operations – these take place with a doctor and practice nurse, for a variety of treatments. Please book in to see a doctor for an initial consultation and they can refer you.

  • NHS health checks – by invitation (patients between the ages of 40 and 74 years)

  • Smears – by invitation (women aged 25 to 65 should have a cervical smear test from a nurse every three to five years for early detection and prevention of cervical cancer)

  • Smoking cessation

  • Spirometry – needs referral by a GP (patient information leaflet can be found here.)

  • Travel advice and vaccinations – please book an appointment 6 weeks before travel (please note that a fee is payable for some vaccines).
